Watercolor Landscape (ONLINE) PT 604WL_ON

Learn to paint watercolor landscapes from photographic references – a virtual getaway for plein air painters during this time of isolation and limited travel. Subjects will include a variety of types of terrain, and instruction will address the rendering of trees, grass, sky, and water.  Students will practice fundamental watercolor techniques such as washes, gradations, textural effects, wet on wet, wet on dry, dry brush, and more as they paint in real-time with the instructor.

Explore flowers and other natural forms, beginning with line and value drawing and progressing to full-color rendering in watercolor and mixed media.  Topics will include sighting techniques, line quality, tone and value, creation of depth, composition, texture, and basic color. All levels welcome.

Learn the art of watercolor portrait painting from photographic references.  Working alongside the instructor during live Zoom sessions, paint a variety of portrait subjects, with a focus on mixing skin tone, rendering hair, achieving a likeness and realistic expression, and more.  Instruction will feature demonstrations of fundamental watercolor techniques such as washes, gradations, textural effects, wet on wet, wet on dry, dry brush, and more.  Portrait drawing experience recommended.
