An in-depth approach to understanding and mixing color for oil painting from the Chair of PAFA’s Painting Department and noted author of Foundations of Drawing: A Practical Guide to Art History, Tools, Techniques, and Styles, Color for Painters: A Guide to Traditions and Practice, and Alla Prima: A Contemporary Guide to Direct Painting. Explore history, palettes, mixing and application for still life, portrait, interior spaces and landscape through a series of studio paintings. This Canvas course includes weekly step-by-step painting demonstrations, assignments that target each important issue of painting a portrait, critiques and weekly Zoom meetings scheduled to accommodate students’ schedules.
