An in-depth approach to drawing and painting the human figure from the Chair of PAFA’s Painting Department and noted author of Foundations of Drawing: A Practical Guide to Art History, Tools, Techniques, and Styles, Color for Painters: A Guide to Traditions and Practice, and Alla Prima: A Contemporary Guide to Direct Painting.
This structured, dynamic online course will address the most important issues of life drawing and painting including structure, form and depth, as well as materials and techniques of drawing and oil painting. Students will use figurative master works and reference material, self-portraits and observation to explore and build skills in working with the figure. This Canvas course includes weekly step-by-step drawing and painting demonstrations, assignments that target each important issue of drawing and painting the figure, critiques and weekly Zoom meetings scheduled to accommodate students’ schedules.
