The PAFA Atelier (ONLINE) DR 607PA_ON
with Peter Van Dyck
Designed for dedicated students seeking to advance their representational drawing and painting, the PAFA Atelier is now online! Each week, Peter Van Dyck, noted painter and founder of the PAFA Atelier, will present a live Zoom lecture/demonstration, and provide individual critiques during class and through the week. This combination instructed-class and open-studio allows students to advance their work on their own personal projects, including figure/portrait subjects, still lifes, landscapes, and interior spaces. Note: This an intermediate-level format for students with prior drawing/painting experience.
Peter Van Dyck, an Assistant Professor in the PAFA BFA program, is dedicated to perceptual painting and the academic tradition. He studied painting and drawing at the Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy, where he also taught. In 2012 he was named one of “25 Important Artists of Tomorrow” by American Artist Magazine. In 2013 his work was included in the book Painted Landscapes, Contemporary Views by Lauren P. della Monica. His work has also been reproduced in periodicals including American Artist Magazine, American Arts Quarterly, Art News, American Art Collector, International Artist Magazine, and Art and Antiques. He has had solo shows at John Pence Gallery, San Francisco; Eleanor Ettinger Gallery, New York; and The Grenning Gallery, Sag Harbor, Maine.
Note: This course may be taken for 1.0 undergraduate credit for $625.
