Color Matters Workshop (Online)

Take your work to the next level under the guidance of artist/critic/mentor Kassem Amoudi in this live Zoom class. Many artists can feel frustrated in front of a blank canvas, unsure of how to start and what to paint. This workshop offers a step-by-step technique which will enable you to paint with confidence by tapping into your intuitive process and finding inspiration more easily. Expert instruction and advice from the instructor will push students to explore new possibilities and work more intuitively, allowing unplanned marks and passages to become artistic breakthroughs. Demonstration of different drawing and painting techniques will enhance your knowledge of the process of painting. Students will utilize line, color and space as will learning the power of editing to create busy/calm areas and focal points in their paintings.

Monotype: The Painterly Print Workshop

One Saturday, 9 am - 5 pm
Monotype is an expressive and accessible form of printmaking, in which an image is drawn or painted on a plexiglass plate or other surface and then printed on paper or fabric to create a one-of-a-kind artwork. Students will work in small-scale in black-and-white and color, exploring both hand-printing and press techniques. Each student will come away with an edition of 4 - 10 prints. Perfect for beginning printmakers, anyone interested in drawing and painting via a new technique, or experienced printmakers who love this painterly process!
Important: All students enrolling in on-campus courses must submit proof of full COVID-19 vaccination and booster (or documentation for a medical/religious exemption request) upon registration. Open the Agreement form during checkout to upload an image of your vaccination card or exemption documentation, or submit vaccine and booster documentation below.Onsite card display and card images emailed to the CE office cannot be accepted. Registration for any on-campus course is pending without vaccination documentation or exemption approval.

Photoshop for Photographers Workshop (Online)

Photoshop has become the editing tool of choice for photography: an essential part of the “digital darkroom,” allowing the photographer to make precise corrections to carefully defined parts of a photo. It is nearly indispensable for refining an image to make it the most impactful, especially if it is to be digitally printed. This two-session hands-on workshop will focus on the needs of photographers and show you how to unlock the potential within the program. Learn how to do quick edits for things like social media and how to work with layers and masks -- a method that gives you virtually unlimited image control.

Drawing Hands and Feet Workshop (Online)

Designed for figurative artists and students of anatomy, this online workshop will explore the structural, anatomical, dynamic and aesthetic qualities of hands and feet. These highly mobile and expressive parts of the human figure are notoriously challenging for an artist to depict. Master the beautiful complexity of the extremities so you can promote their expressive potential and add credibility to your depictions of the human form. You will draw along with renowned artist and author Roberto Osti in this live Zoom workshop.
